Teacher Focus of the week: Think, Pair, Share
At Ealing Independent College, we have ambitious goals for the year ahead to create a deep learning culture not only among our students but also among our staff. With this in mind, we are providing staff at every level with weekly training opportunities to ensure every individual is continually engaging with their own professional development.
During this week's professional development session, we started to look at Barak Rosenshine's second phase of Principles of Instruction, which is questioning. Which I felt also tied in well with our Vice Principals recent refreshing presentation on supporting students with SEND.
The quality of discussion and debate around this key teacher skill was rich with knowledge and expertise, which all teachers enjoyed being a part of. Just by focusing on how we can sometimes get questioning wrong, showed that we have a good idea of the level we should be aiming for.
Following on from this, our teacher focus for the week ahead is on basic questioning principles, which some teachers know very well, but can still easily improve and be more consistent with.
