It gives us great pleasure to announce the launch of our scholarship competition for this academic year - which will be held on the 17th of November 2020 at the College. The award is part of the ongoing commitment Ealing Independent College has to providing an excellent education which opens doors to top universities and allows students to reach their true potential. The award acts as a fitting tribute to departing Principal Dr Ian Moores, who retired during the summer.
Dr Moores realised his vision of creating a College which truly got the best out of each and every student, and this prestigious event extends our dedication to his legacy.
This scholarship gives students out with the Ealing Independent College community a chance to join us and benefit from our teaching and learning opportunities.
About Dr Ian Moores
Dr Moores, who served as Principal of Ealing Independent College for 18 years, retired this summer. The success which both the College and its students have achieved over these years is largely a result of his passion and drive. An enthusiastic and dedicated Chemistry specialist, Dr Moores oversaw the growth and expansion of the College from a small tutorial college to an all-encompassing school for students from year 9 to year 13.
Dr Moores taught at some of the UK’s most prestigious HMC boarding and day schools. He was Head of Department and Master in Charge of Athletics at Wellington College (Berks) for five years. He then moved to Bedales School (Hants) as Head of Science for another five years, before an appointment to the Senior Management Team at Cheadle Hulme School (Cheshire). Dr Moores truly managed to integrate the best aspects of an Independent Sixth Form College with the best characteristics of a school to give the College its particular ethos. The diverse and welcoming environment is a key part of his legacy here.
Whilst Principal, he was a great exponent of his vision: that all students should be given the chance to excel, regardless of their background or past experiences in education.
The Dr Ian Moores Scholarship Competition provides the opportunity for students to win a fully funded place at the College for the duration of an A Level or GCSE course.
