Carving 3D models, coding, travelling, photography, and printmaking are only some of his hobbies. He is the youngest member of the EIC faculty, our Head of Physics, and an extraordinarily kind person. If you haven’t guessed already, this week we’re shining the spotlight on Parth!
Parth is not only a dynamic and motivated teacher, but also an extremely curious person, who is interested in several hobbies. As a result, our interview with him touches on various fascinating topics.
Our conversation started with admiring how, at such a young age, Parth achieved so much in his career. This is his first year as a fully qualified teacher, yet he is not only delivering lessons that engage all his students, but also taking over the role of Head of his Faculty.
Parth explained that when he first applied for the physics teaching position at Ealing Independent College, his only desire was to work in a small, familiar and stimulating environment. Well, it is needless to say that he definitely found what he was looking for, and so much more.
Parth’s first year at EIC has seen him taking on a lot of responsibilities, and with them a lot of trust from all the other members of staff. His role currently encompasses a few logistic responsibilities that go beyond the role of a teacher.
However, Parth is such a modest and humble person, that when telling us about his first year at EIC, he underlines how much he still wants to learn and improve.
His humbleness emerges as well when he is asked why he enjoys working at the College: other than mentioning the great relationship between teachers and students, he answers that, thanks to the small classes, he can get a lot of feedback from the students and learn what works well for them. It is incredibly heartwarming to learn how Parth is willing to grow, and make sure that whatever he does in the classroom works for the students first and foremost.
Finally, he adds that another reason why he very much enjoys working at Ealing Independent College is “the flexibility in the approach of teaching. Staff members are not scared to try something new and create individualised approaches based on what each student needs”.
During the first term of the current academic year, Parth also led an Engineering Club. He was hugely enthusiastic about the club, whose end goal was to build a robot that the students programmed themselves. Parth is definitely excited to offer the club again next year, as he sees the importance for A-Level students to enrich their curriculum with extra curricular activities that improve their programming and engineering skills. Another idea would be to build a games society, where students build their own video games around an agreed theme.
Parth’s own personal interest in coding definitely has a big influence on the promotion of these clubs. As the personality of Parth brought this interest to light, we asked him what other hobbies he has, and the most surprising answer was given: he loves photography, printmaking, carving tools and 3D models, designing electronic instruments, producing music, gaming, travelling.
He explained that whilst he was studying at University he did not have much time to dedicate to hobbies; thus, only after completing his studies he decided to open up to a lot of different interests and literally kept trying new things to figure out what he really liked. Though, it turned out that he enjoys quite a lot of the hobbies he tried!
Finally, a fun fact about him: at the age of 10, Parth moved to the UK from India; back then, he learnt to speak English from American Cartoons, and therefore for many years after his move he had a strong american accent!
