UCAS support

The College has a team of experienced and dedicated tutors who work hard to ensure that students gain a path to their chosen destinations.

At Ealing Independent College we have a strong track record of helping students reach their true potential enabling them to gain offers from top universities across the country and abroad. When students join the College their personal tutors will help set their post-College progression plan. If students wish to proceed into competitive academic fields such as Medicine, Dentistry and Law (and not restricted to these disciplines), early planning is crucial. Students aiming for any courses at top universities – Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and London School of Economics - also have to plan well in advance to ensure that their application is robust and strong.

We believe that the guidance and support we offer our students through the process of choosing their field of study and university is crucial for their future success, and it is a responsibility we do not take lightly. The personal tutors will ensure that students leave the College secure in their choice of university and that the choice of study enables them to go on and have successful careers in the industries of interest to them. The tutors will challenge and inspire the students by helping them evaluate and analyse their strengths and weaknesses against interests and aspirations.

Once our students have settled on a university choice, the tutors will help them through the UCAS application process to ensure they gain access to the university of their choice. Support and advice will be provided to our students to help them complete their application and write a successful personal statement to make their application stand out. Ealing Independent College also holds a UCAS week in June for all year 12 students.

UCAS Week

We believe it is never too early for Year 12 students to start thinking about university applications or other routes that may interest them such as apprenticeships. To get students started on this path, our supportive and informative UCAS week is a three-day, one-stop workshop of activities, tutorials, mini-lectures, and visiting speakers to give a robust yet supportive introduction to the UCAS process.

During UCAS week we provide them with a fully comprehensive programme which explains how the process works, and how to ensure they make the best of it.

Many students may still be unsure which career direction they hope to follow, or if they have some ideas about this, may be unclear about which universities may be the best choice for them. During UCAS week we provide them with a fully comprehensive programme which explains how the process works, and how to ensure they make the best of it. From filling in the application form, to choosing courses and destinations, to what students can really expect from university life.

We explain to students how universities are ranked in the UK - and indeed internationally - should students wish to pursue their studies overseas. We also take students through, step by step, what it takes to submit a truly winning application. We encourage our students to be aspirational, yet also realistic in their five choices and we provided guidance in researching courses thoroughly so they are able to select those that suit them best in order to pursue the career of their dreams.
